Initsys in the primary school
It was therefore decided that CCTV should be installed.

On seeing the Initsys IAF system the Head Teacher decided that the features and benefits far outweighed those of traditional legacy CCTV, especially important was the ability to remotely view the cameras using the schools internet access.
The Initsys IAF system has been used in conjunction with Panasonic KX-HCM10 and KX-HCM230 cameras. The IAF and the cameras have their own local area network, this in turn is linked to the School's Internet access via a firewall router.
During the daytime the cameras can be viewed on most of the schools internal PCs and used for access control and generally monitoring the activity of the children.

When the school is closed and no children are present, remote access to the cameras is provided by opening the Firewall. This access is used by the local community to keep an eye on their school. Making it a virtual neighbourhood watch system, in this way the children, parents and staff can keep an open eye out for vandals and others.
The IAF system is constantly monitoring itself and sends regular health messages to the Initsys data centre every 45 seconds or so. The message includes the status of the cameras and the complete system. The data centre also polls the IAF to ensure that the path is secure.
* Whilst the system can be used to transmit alarm signals from the intruder and fire alarm to the alarm receiving centre the connection here has not yet been made.

In the event of an intruder or fire alarm activating, the IAF will send images to the VerifiedAlarms centre where certain staff and parents are alerted using SMS messages. The images from the IAF are sent to the data store where they can be viewed by anyone with a simple browser.
Another point that has not been lost on the School pupils is that during the long breaks in the Summer and at Easter they will be able to remotely check on the fish tank and any projects underway!
