Abbey, prepares for the future with VSG and Initsys.
News Content:
Leading high street bank Abbey have closed its own in Alarm Monitoring Station and changed its external monitoring service provider in a move that could be viewed as both progressive and innovative.

Appointing VSG as its new alarm receiving station (ARC) and front line filtering service, Abbey appear to have got the best of both worlds, combining both the benefits of its own specified monitoring needs and contract provided monitoring to NSI Gold standards.

VSG is already recognised as one of the leading service providers in the security industry having been awarded the ‘Best Manned Guarding Company’ at both the 2005 & 2006 security excellence awards. Designed from the outset to be one of the most advanced Arc’s in the world, the VSG Monitoring Station is destined to follow suit and will no doubt become the one of the leading independent ARC,s in the UK.

VSG's Operations Support Director - Nick Reed explains; “As a top 10 company in the Manned Guarding sector it was obvious to us that there was an opportunity to improve on the old fashioned way that Alarms and CCTV had been handled in the past”.

“Abbey already rely on us for its manned guarding requirements and we have been able to prove that our vision on guarding can be applied to alarm handling. An ARC is a huge investment in both technology and staff and we have the best of both”.

The move of Abbey's security signalling entailed the reprogramming and conversion of all alarms and the communication paths to the ARC. This was accomplished by Initsys with the assistance of VSG’s own IT department.

Jarod Booth, Initsys Sales Director commented;” This project really stretched our internal expertise as we have had to combine old communication technology with our network equipment which is designed for IP”.

“I guess that's the advantage of having many years experience of alarm transmission and standards inside our company. Having the support of knowledgeable client IT departments is also a pleasant experience”.

The move was completed within three months of contract.

Abbey bank says;
‘ The decision to engage with a third party ARC has been both challenging and successful. It has allowed Abbey personnel to concentrate on their core business and objectives whilst knowing that the alarm processes are being dealt with by trained operators using the latest equipment. Abbey’s relationship with VSG has always been strong and although the change was viewed as innovative both parties approached the project with equal confidence.’
